rear cover of a certain new book that the average dub will never see (just wants to make you gag, doesn't it?).

i grew up with certain voices (not faces) that were almost like celebrities to me.
maybe this is only a "born-in" thing.
but there are a lot of them that will forever be stuck in my head.
U. Glass was definitely one of my favorite voices followed by Dan Sydlik.
Remember Dan's usual morning worship intro? "How good it is to be alive and serve the true and living God!!" LOL
And a hilarious voice at Patterson was Brother O'boyle's voice. I don't remember his first name. But if you can picture the Sean Connery voice during a prayer or a talk, then you know who I'm talking about.
And Doug Chapel has an interesting voice. You usually will hear it narrating the main articles of a magazine, generally the Watchtower - Public Edition.

another wonderful part this week at the meeting.
and this is what the brother said.. he related examples, based on the om book, as to how jehovah kept records.
funny part is, they all applied to population, the amount of people.. is there any part of the bible that talks about how jehovah kept a log of hours on some occasion?
According this the drama at this summer's Discrap Crapvention, the Christians who evidently fled to Pella, also evidently kept attendance records for their five weekly meetings and turned in their field service records of hours, placements, and return visits... on time.
Bonnie_Clyde Did they really say that during the drama? Hours, placements, return visits?
I don't specifically remember if they mentioned field service records of hours, placements, and return visits. But they definitely talked about congregation records and how well they were doing.
I know the GB is old. But were any of them alive during that time to verify that the congregation actually kept this silly log? I doubt it!!

ziddina -
"And on the 30th day of the menstrual cycle of his mother, ..."
Uhm, not to nit-pick too much, but menstrual cycles are usually 28 days... That's why they are associated with the cycle of the moon, which is actually more like 29 1/4 days...

Believe it or not, I thought about that when I wrote it. But I went with it any way. Hey, I'm a guy. I was more interested in seeing how it felt to write my own scripture. Yes, it felt good!! LOL

streets76 - Why don't they just create a website and let the Brothers turn in their time online?
That sounds like a great idea, especially since much of the correspondence with letters and such to elders is now being done via jw.org. But turning in time to the elders directly serves as a way for them to keep an eye on you. They don't want to loose their grip locally. The old ball and chain effect.

MrMonroe - It is just such an offensive concept. Could they imagine Jesus keeping a tally of the number of people who listened to him and writing down the number of hours and minutes he spent "in the work"?
I was just talking to my father about this today. Funny enough that he brought up that exact thing! When was Jesus ever documented retreiving, filling on, and turning in a time slip - late or on time? Only in the JW world!
Billy the Ex-Bethelite - According this the drama at this summer's Discrap Crapvention, the Christians who evidently fled to Pella, also evidently kept attendance records for their five weekly meetings and turned in their field service records of hours, placements, and return visits... on time.
Yes this was completely ridiculous! And it bothered me even more since I already knew they were going to show that in the drama because people had talked about it here. I just wonder where in the Bible you find that backed up. Oh yea, again, only in the JW world!

boy am i tired of hearing this one.
yes folks, i heard it at the meeting this week...again.
the sm included a local needs part and this was the subject - family worship night.. apparently, regarding fwn, that time was never, nor now is, ours.
Billy the Ex-Bethelite - CoC, I'd respond to your post, but in the immediate future the FDS has lovingly given me time to evacuate my colon.
As always, you make me laugh OUT LOUD!!

hello, jwn!.
like other newbies, im a long time lurker, first-time poster.
recently, i created a profile, but then hesitated on submitting my first post.
RTA, all I can say is that I loved reading your experience. I'm glad you also took the right steps, like therapy, to help you deal with all the pain.
I hope many more read this, including lurkers, and realize that there is happiness in life after JW's, even if the JW life was hell.
Congrats on your courage to express yourself and I look forward to reading more.
WELCOME!!

MLE - I agree that it is good to keep up with Bible reading. But that is if you believe in the things you read. I currently do not have much confidence in a lot of the stories in the Bible.
It doesn't hurt to consider the things that will benefit my marriage, friendships, etc. - namely life.
But other than that, I'm through with JW literature study at this point in life. I will research the Society, but I don't feel like filling my head with their nonsense ways of explaining things - when I know clearly that it is the way THEY perceive what THEY have read.
That's because those other Christians know better than to defend the entire Bible

Completely agree Sab.
